Hi people! Since we are now a lot more relaxed it feels like a lot of effort to write a whole blog post. Therefore we have decided to treat you all to a photo show today instead
Picking up where we left off – hitchhiking!
After being dropped off at the edge of town by Sam, it took only a few minutes for Mitch to kindly pick us up and deliver us to the doorstep of our hostel in Taupo.
Ancient super volcano turned lake Taupo, with great views of our next goal in the distance.
Totally fresh and awake at 05:30 AM!
Aaaaand Isabella not so much anymore after the first 200m climb (Devil's Staircase, http://www.tongarirocrossing.org.nz/national-park/soda-springs-to-south-crater)
But big rewards came afterwards
“Gollem! Gollem! Precioussssss”
Chilling in a natural hot spring helps to soothe the muscles afterwards.
After 6 years apart – the love story between Michael and Speights continues. Finally reunited!
Logistical difficulties changed our route from West to East - Destination sunny Napier. (Yes, the helmets look ridiculous.)
Taking bikes to the oldest winery in New Zealand to get drunk on the cheap
Although it may not look like it, there was plenty of ripe grapes in bottles available for “tasting”.
A little bit of home (and marketing talent) in Napier.
Our last stop on the North Island – visiting friends in (really) windy Wellington!
Thanks to Chris and Helene for the kiwi hospitality, fush & chups, great time cathing up and bush lounging!
Chilled out and on the road again – our travels continue next time when we take the ferry down South.
Stay tuned for more (maybe even a full blog post again )
